Pirate Vinyl

I've seen a couple vinyl records floating around on ebay lately - PJ Harvey B-Sides which I know she nor Island or even Too Pure put out. Someone took a bunch of her B-Sides, used photos from 'A Place Called Home' & 'This Is Love' & pressed some vinyl. Both records look identical. They took the lipstick picture from Dry for the label. There's no release info. I'm really curious as to who put these out. The sound quality isn't that great but the songs are actually on there. I have somehow become obsessed with collecting all of her vinyl so how could I resist.

Lately

I haven't felt much like writing lately, but perhaps that's because I've been a busy girl. Work started back up, I spent countless hours prepping & fretting over the photos I turned in for the gallery show, I went to a couple nice outdoor places & even sewed a couple pillow covers. Oh yeah, and LOST started back up.

I've had these ugly 90s pillows since high school & decided to use the left over fabric I reupholstered my chair with to sew some pillow covers. They came out pretty good but the corners are a bit wonky. I still managed to have lots of left over fabric. I don't know what to do with it all.

My friend Liz & I went to Paramount Ranch one afternoon. It was nice to walk around & I saw this, which personally reminds me a little too much of Jacob's cabin on LOST.

Driving back we got this lovely view.



I also went hiking w/ my friend Cindy & a few other people to Eaton Canyon Falls which is near Pasadena. It was a great hike. Took us about 3 hours total. It's only 3 miles, but you cross rocks & rivers & trees & it was a lot of fun. Plus, it had been raining a lot lately, so there was lots of water. One thing I really hate about LA is the lack of rivers. I miss rivers. Sure, there's a big ocean but that's on the other side of town & the city isn't built up around it.



I wish I had some photos from when it was raining. It's supposed to rain a lot this season so I'm hoping for more. I even got some thunder & lightning a few times which always makes me feel a little more at home. Plus it makes the clouds look insanely gorgeous... and that always makes me insanely happy.

I recently submitted some photos for a group photography exhibit & two of them got in. I'm so excited! I won't be able to attend the opening or closing reception, which is really a shame, but a girl's got to work. The theme for the February show is night photography & here are my pieces:

Last fall I started this jellyfish drawing. I liked how the jellies turned out but it still seemed really boring & I didn't know what to do with it next. This month I decided to get back to it & at a friend's suggestion add some paint. Well the only paint I have is guache & silly me not thinking how that would mesh with Nupastel chalks well... it got a little mushy looking. I think I brought it back a bit but I still don't know where to take it now. I'm stuck.

Favorites 2009

Every year I put all the photos I've taken that I love into a favorites album in Flickr. There are occasionally one or two I didn't take that have me in the picture & have to include b/c it represents what a good time it was, but usually it's 99% my photos. It's a great way to take a look back at all the good times from the year & it weeds out all the crappy photos I upload to Flickr. So here are my favorite shots from 2009. Thanks for the great memories friends. Can't wait to see what this year brings.
