Let England Shake

Miss Harvey is at it again. She's already performing new songs. Not sure how I feel about them yet but excited to hear some new things b/c that always means touring. I don't know what to think of the outfit though. That may be a few too many feathers even for me. Usually I can admire her style but this time I'm just confused. Also read today that she'll be guest designing Francis Ford Coppola's summer issue of Zoetrope: All Story magazine. It'll feature some artwork, drawings & sculptures of hers. I need to get that!

Dreaming of Italy

I am making plans for a two week vacation with my friend Harmony to Italy in October 2011. It's so far away but I can't wait to ride a gondola through the canals of Venice, to look out at the Mediterranean, to take silly pictures of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, to see beautiful old ancient buildings & great landscapes. I think by the time it comes around my mind will explode from all the waiting. If you've ever been, please feel free to offer some suggestions on things to see, places to go, etc. I'm still in the planning stages.

graffiti

I often come across graffiti that I find interesting & the other day when I was going to lunch with a friend I saw this poster:

Now I was thinking to myself, why oh why does that rat look so familiar? After we left I didn't think much of it but then someone on facebook posted a trailer for the movie. Oh yes, that's why that rat looks familiar, it's Banksy. Banksy is a pretty well known street artist. I'm not sure what the movie will be like, since it seems very home movie like, but it seems to be completely shot by Space Invader's cousin so it could be pretty interesting.

So now I'm in the mood to share some of the graffiti I've seen & thought was interesting. These were all found either in Los Angeles or Paris. I see a lot of crap out there. I'm not really a fan of tagging. It actually really annoys me. If you're going to desecrate a wall, why not make it interesting?

flowers & fish bones

I took a day trip w/ Gigi out to Anza-Borrego Desert State Park & then to the Salton Sea. The flowers were blooming. It was nice out. There were dinosaurs. There were dead fish skeletons. I don't recommend ever going to the Salton Sea. It's not pleasant. Anza-Borrego however was pretty cool, although I didn't see nearly as many flowers as I thought I would.
